Grandma’s Dough Bowl Ice Cream – A Sweet Journey into Childhood
Do you remember when you were allowed to lick the dough bowl after baking as a child? That sweet moment when you could enjoy the last bit of raw cake dough before the cake was put in the oven. These memories of childhood, of baking together with grandma and the incomparable taste of the sweet, still raw dough, are the inspiration for this very special creation: Grandma's dough bowl ice cream. The idea came from our ice cream community and made me jump straight into action.
This ice cream brings all the nostalgia and the incomparable taste of those days into your homemade ice cream. It's the small, precious moments that we remember forever, right?
The magic of ingredients – How grandma’s bowl of dough got into ice cream
What makes Omas Teigschüssel Eis so special? It is the carefully selected ingredients that we have used to make the taste as authentic as possible. The mix of Shortbread Ice Cream Paste and Marzipan Ice Cream Paste reminds of the sweet, slightly nutty taste of grandma's cake dough. The dried orange peel and the rum aroma give the ice cream a fine, aromatic note that you could often detect as a child when baking cakes and cookies.
The big highlight of this ice cream are the little pieces of dough that are mixed into the ice cream. These pieces of dough make every spoonful of ice cream so special and give it just the right texture. They are like little memories that you keep finding as you enjoy it and that perfectly round off the experience.
The preparation – simple but full of flavour
The secret of this ice cream lies in the combination of ingredients. First, you mix the base Eis-Perfecto, Bindemittel-Perfecto, sugar, milk and cream. This combination creates the creamy consistency that we all love. The shortbread and marzipan ice cream paste give the ice cream the characteristic taste that we associate with grandma's bowl of dough. You don't necessarily have to use ice cream pastes here, we give you alternatives in the recipe. Make it entirely to your taste.
How to enjoy Grandma's bowl of ice cream
This ice cream is perfect for any occasion when you're craving something nostalgic and sweet. Enjoy it plain to experience the full flavor of the dough, or cozy up with a warm cup of coffee, cocoa or tea, doesn't that sound wonderful?
We have a few more ideas on how you can enjoy this ice cream:
Why not serve it with a piece of freshly baked cake - like grandma used to make. The warm cake and the cold ice cream complement each other perfectly and bring back even more memories of childhood.
And if you want something a little more exciting, serve the ice cream with a splash of fruity liqueur or a shot Chocolate sauceThe combination of the sweet dough taste and the additional flavors will delight you.
Conclusion: an ice cream that brings back fond memories

The idea isn't bad and the taste is reminiscent of cake batter, although we don't think orange peel belongs in it. The consistency is once again great, but we weren't convinced by the taste this time.
But thank God, tastes differ 😉
